Quizzes

Starting with excercise 3 there will be a (roughly bi-weekly) quiz on the earlier set of recommended problems. See the course plans (excercises) for more information. The quiz results will give a bonus on the final exam score, see "Bonus" heading below for details.

Ireland-Rosen: A Classical Introduction to Modern Number Theory, 2nd ed. The book in pdf-format is available at KTH-lib here (click on "springer books".)

Examination

Final exam, grading scale: A, B, C, D, E, FX, F

Grade limits

percentage points including bonus from home work.

  • A: 85%.
  • B: 75%.
  • C: 65%.
  • D: 55%.
  • E: 45%.
  • Fx: 44%.

Final exam

6 problem, each worth 4p. No calculators or other aids may be used.

Bonus

The quiz results give up to 10% bonus on your final exam score. When computing the quiz average, your lowest score will be dropped (in case of sickness, schedule conflicts etc etc.)

Clarifying examples:

  • 100% on quizzes, 50% on the exam: total score 100*0.10 + 50 = 60%.
  • 50% on quizzes, 75% on the exam: total score 50*0.10 + 75 = 80%.

Bonus validity: the bonus will be counted at the first ordinary exam, and the first ordinary re-exam.
